Library

Parallel with the establishment of the Historical Museum of Serbia, extensive efforts were made towards the constitution of its library. Apart from the Museum Collections and Funds Department and Museum Documentation Department, the Library is one of the bases of scientific and expert work of the Museum staff. Its character of specialized library is designed by professional orientation towards publications dealing with the history of Slovenes, from their settlement in the Balkans, then with the history of the Serbian people and other nationalities with which the Serbs recently create social-political entity. The Library has over 12.500 monographs and over 400 periodicals. The access to the library funds are facilitated by classified and author catalogues. Completing of library collections is performed by permanent following of publishing activities as well as by purchasing antiquary issues covering all professional fields in which the Museum experts are involved. Although the Library is predominantly intended for the Museum experts, it is also open for Museum’s associates and similar professional institutions.
