Conservation Department

This Department consists of two units: the Storerooms and Art-Conservation workshop. Conservation Department exists from the very beginnings of the Museum and carries out the protection of objects made of various materials, predominantly from wood and metal, as well as the preventive measures in storerooms and display areas. In addition to objects belonging to the Historical Museum of Serbia, the workshop also performs cleaning, chemical and mechanical protection, restoration and conservation of objects from other museums and institutions in Belgrade and Serbia. Its staff also participates in all activities connected to the realization, equipping and displaying of an exhibition and in fieldwork together with curators of the Museum Collections and Funds Department.
