Documentation Department
Museum
Documentation Department is an independent unit of the Museum, which in the
most directly way cooperates with curators within the Museum Collections
and Funds Department and which unites entire documentation involved in a
process of acquisition, preservation and expert interpretation of an
object. It keeps basic records on the museum objects, such as an accession
register, the collections’ inventories, and registers of objects
photographs, central and auxiliary catalogues of the collections, archive
dealing with the museum’s exhibitions and press-clipping.
This
department represents a sort of the museum’s information center, where not
only computer data processing of museum objects is performed, but also
their photographing, digitization and scanning. In addition to this, it
follows the modern developments within the profession as well as the
international standards dealing with the museum documentation and of the
information associated with the objects for research. As a parent
department for museum objects of interest for Serbian history, this
Department establishes guidelines for dealing with such museum objects’
description and provides professional help to those involved in museum
documentation.
Apart
to its basic preoccupation, the Museum Documentation Department organizes
and performs the projects dealing with publishing of the museum objects,
either as multimedia publications or printed issues. Full and successful
cooperation it has established with numerous TV stations and publishers, as
well as lots of physical persons and corporations, which use museum photo
documentation in their projects and researches.
