Memorial Objects Collection
The Memorial Collection comprises the objects belonged to or
related to certain individuals of more or less importance for Serbian
history, which would be otherwise considered as a part of the Applied Arts Collection.
Among other objects, the collection includes the jewelry created for the
Obrenovic family by the Viennese goldsmith Swoboda, at the end of the
Prince Milos’ first rule in 1839.

The most valuable objects in the Museum’s possession are
within the collection: Karadjordje and Milos’ personal objects, royal
Serbian insignia, which for the coronation of King Peter I was made by the
Falise brothers in Paris (crown, sceptre, orb and buckle for cape), and by
Ernst Krikel&Schweiger from Vienna (cape, according to sketches of
Mihajlo Valtrovic).

Apart from the objects belonged to the members of both
Serbian dynasties (Obrenovics and Karadjordjevics), other objects worth of
attention are those belonged to prominent Serbian individuals or families,
as were the Patriarche Rajacic, Jovan Zujovic and Dusan Nedeljkovic.
Although the most precious parts of the collection were taken from the National Museum, i.e.
the Museum of the First Serbian Uprising, the major part was acquired after
1963, when the Historical Museum was
established.
