COLLECTIONS OF COPIES OF FRESCOES AND ICONS

Certain exhibitions organized by the Historical Museum of Serbia, particularly those related to the Middle Ages (the Battle of Kosovo, An icon - the picture of Serbian history and religion) requested some frescoes and icons to be copied, according to which a real connection with the ancient times and their manners could be established. Thus such copies reveal not only distinguished individuals and important events from the Serbian mediaeval history,  but also the way they

were dressed, crafts they were occupied with, the buildings they built, the way they tiled the land, etc.

Thematically, the collection includes the drawings and watercolors of Serbian mediaeval monuments, which for the needs of the Serbian Learned Society, made Mihajlo Valtrovic and Dragutin Milutinovic from 1871 to 1885.
