ARHEOLO[KA ZBIRKA

ARCHEOLOGICAL COLLECTION

Consisting of more than 500 inventory items, the collection includes various objects of different cultures and covers the period from the Neolith to late Middle Ages. All objects of the collection certainly belong to some of the sites excavated in Serbia; however, due to manner of their acquisition, their origin is hard to establish. In most cases the objects were either given to the Museum or purchased from collectors, amateur archeologists or chance finders.

A special corpus of the collection consists of the objects excavated in the Avar-Slovenian burial ground in Mali Idjos in 1970.

According to their number and representative qualities, sub-collections of jewelry, tools and weapons, dating from the Late Middle Ages, should be particularly mentioned.
